The Employee Perks Top Talent Wants the Most

It’s no secret that part of the reason employees ultimately choose to work somewhere is because of the perks an organization happens to offer.

In order to take your company to the next level, you should do everything within your power to attract the best workers you possibly can. A recent infographic created by Company Folders explores 10 of the more desirable perks that creative top talent is drawn to. If you’re looking to build out a talented team, consider offering the following employee perks:

01. Flexibility

Life can get hectic. The more flexible an employer can be with their workers, the more likely employees will be to stick around. Studies show that flexible schedules boost engagement. They also reduce turnover by 10%. Does it really matter when your employees do their work?

02. Paid time off

The average American worker gets 10 vacation days each year. On the other end of the spectrum, some companies offer their employees unlimited vacation (which has its own pros and cons). Bottom line: skilled workers want to be able to take time off to recharge their batteries.

03. Corporate outings

Top talent wants to continue improving and growing. In this light, they are interested in going to conferences, trade shows, and seminars to learn new skills and meet new people. Support professional development opportunities to attract the best workers.

04. Food

Everyone needs to eat. But there’s something to be said about tasty food that is free. Google’s workers are never more than 200 feet away from free food. You might not be able to be that generous, but a free meal every now and again certainly won’t hurt.

05. Gifts and services

Differentiate your company from the rest by offering free gifts and services. Maybe you’ll pick up your employees’ dry cleaning tabs. Maybe you’ll spring for a concierge service that takes care of a number of errands while your employees are working. Who couldn’t use that kind of perk?

06. Health programs

Top talent will not work for your company if you don’t offer health care coverage (within reason). Make your health program even more attractive by covering gym memberships and letting your employees work out during the day. While you’re at it, invest in nap pods.

07. Mental health care

Life is tough. Some companies have opted to cover mental health services for their employees. Whether they are depressed or learning how to deal with the loss of a loved one, mental health services can help your employees overcome tragedies and become more confident people.

08. Remote work

Letting your employees work at home — at least from time to time — makes a whole lot of sense. You shouldn’t force them to come to the office during a blizzard, for example. And what if their kid is home sick from school? Studies show remote workers are happier than their peers. Create a remote working policy to attract talented creatives.

09. Childcare

Childcare services are prohibitively expensive for all parents. Sponsor childcare services as much as you can to alleviate some of the stress associated with affording these necessary expenses.

10. Entertainment

When all else fails, who doesn’t like to be entertained? Buy a pool table. Build a bar in the office and have a happy hour every Friday. Go to a movie premiere.
