If you or your employees struggle to tackle your workload each week, give feng shui a try. Developed more than three millennia ago in China, feng shui is a philosophy that studies spatial relationships and how energies flow through specific environments. Simply put, when feng shui is “good” in a room, the folks inside of it will benefit from good fortune and health. In your office, where you place your desk matters most. Choose the most powerful position for your desk. Face the door, so whenever anyone walks in, you own the room right away. The closer you sit to the door, the more likely your employees will pop by to distract you.

So put some distance in between your desk and the door. You’ll be more effective.

You won’t be productive if your office is incredibly dark or incredibly bright. For feng shui purposes, try to get as much natural light in your office. Obviously you won’t want to have the sun blaring in your eyes the entire day. But open the curtains if you can.

Rather than forcing yourself to squint all day, buy a table lamp and improve the energy in your office with some warm lighting. The energy will be more relaxed. You’ll be able to concentrate.
