You’re probably wondering how we measure workplace happiness ...
Once a month, we ask employees at over 500 companies around the world how happy they are at work. We separated each company into 14 different industries then calculated the average happiness score for each organization.
For this award, we analyzed the results by calculating the average happiness score for each company in the different industries to find out winners.

Q: What was the funniest recognition you’ve ever received?
A: Our funniest recognition was a team effort. We have a wonderful teammate that we'll call Joe (because his name is Joe). He's one of those great people that brings out the best in others. He fully embraced the Cheers for Peers and offered specific positive feedback to team members. His enthusiasm was returned as the whole team joined forces to show our appreciation for everything from his exceptional leadership to his great hair.
Q: What was the happiest moment at work?
A: The happiest moment at work occurred for one teammate when she learned that she would have a highly technically competent leader that could mentor, teach, and develop her capabilities.
As a team, our happiest moment was in learning that we'd won a large, extremely competitive contract that had taken years to win. It was a sweet victory.
Q: What kind of fun activities does your company participate in?
A: For fun, we have our department enjoy an occasional happy hour and monthly mid-day mingles where we play games, laugh together, and get to know each other on a more personal level. We get to interact with our coworkers and have a fun break in our otherwise busy days. The mid-day mingles extend beyond our department, so others in the organization are exposed to our camaraderie and the benefits it brings to our workplace and performance.
Q: What is one thing that every company can do to make their employees happier?
A: Companies could make their employees happier by listening and engaging the creativity and capability of the team to address the issues that affect them and the business.
Q: If you could describe your work culture in three words, what would they be?
A: Our company mission is to provide innovative solutions that protect and save lives. We take our mission seriously and are committed to informing, empowering, and inspiring to meet our customers' needs. Three words that describe our culture: engaged, high performing, customer-focused.
As one teammate puts it, "We make our company look good". Of course we do! Did I mention Joe's hair?
