Once a month, we ask employees at over 500 companies around the world how happy they are at work. We separated the companies into 14 different industries then track the average happiness score for each organization.
The County of Riverside COR Learning is a resource center for employees in Riverside County. This organization is all about fostering a work culture of lifelong learning so people can continue to develop and better serve the public. So in order for them to help their colleagues, they need to make sure employee engagement is through the roof.
We got a chance to speak with the team to go behind the scenes of the organization to find out what makes County of Riverside COR Learning one of the best places to work.
A: The funniest recognition I’ve received was from a participant in one of my classes. To thank me, she gave me a pair of clapping hands so I could give myself applause or a pat on the back whenever I needed one.
A: My happiest moment at work came when a lady in my class stood up at her graduation and said that her husband had taken my class on crucial conversations the year before and that it changed his life so profoundly that it healed their marriage and brought their family closer together than ever before. It’s for that reason that she couldn’t wait to take the class for herself so she could experience the same change he did. I was completely speechless, embarrassed, and at the same time happier and more satisfied than I can remember ever being at work. It increased my passion for what I do tenfold.
A: We engage in all kinds of fun activities at work, like potlucks, going out to lunch together, playing video games, celebrating birthdays and special occasions, and more.
A: One thing every company could do to make their employees happier is to build trust with them.
